To help our future Roadrunners feel prepared and confident, we’ve created a series of virtual move-in information sessions covering everything to know about what to expect on the big day.

Living on Campus & Preparing for Move-In

We’ll cover the basics of preparing for move-in, including how to sign up for your move-in appointment, what to expect when you arrive, how long you’ll have to unload your car and tips for a smooth transition to campus life.
Move-In Logistics & Engagement
6-7:30 p.m. | July 8 & 22
These sessions focus on the details: move-in day logistics, step-by-step expectations, and the events and engagement opportunities available during and after move-in.

Move-In Day Logistics
- Arrive on your assigned day and time slot.
- All residents must check in at Brackenridge Lot 5 (BK5) before going to their residence hall.
- Only two vehicles per resident are allowed in unloading zones. All other vehicles must park in designated areas in Brackenridge Lots 1 and 2 (BK1 and BK2).
- Shuttles will run between BK1 and residence halls from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily during move-in.
- Parking in unloading zones is not permitted. Unload your vehicle, then move it to a designated space.
- We recommended that one person remains with belongings while another moves the vehicle.
- Many buildings do not have elevators, and elevator availability is limited where provided.
- It's South Texas, so be prepared for the hot weather! Consider health and safety as you plan for the day.

- Log in to the housing portal and navigate to the Room Swap tab.
- Select your 2026-27 Academic Year (Fall) booking.
- Enter your preferred housing options. This will help match you with available rooms.
- Search for available rooms from other participating students.
- Note: Availability changes frequently; check back often.
- (Optional) Message other students via the Messages section if you’d like more details or want to connect.
- Submit a swap request for a room you are interested in.
- Requests appear under Outgoing Requests.
- Incoming requests appear under Incoming Requests.
- Return to the housing portal and click SWAP to finalize.
A move-in time slot is your designated timeframe to check in at BK5 for move-in. These appointments help ensure an efficient process.
All students must select a move-in time slot. Move-in days are assigned based on your residence hall.
If you arrive early, you will be asked to come back at your assigned time. If you arrive late, you will be asked to check in at 4 p.m. after all other time slots have been checked in.
Limited early move-in is available beginning Monday, Aug. 10, for students in approved programs, including the SOSA Marching Band, select on-campus employees and student-athletes.
If you need early move-in, contact your supervisor, coach or program director.
Volunteers will be available to assist with unloading and moving items on assigned move-in days. A limited number of bins will also be available at each building.
Note:
- Chisholm Hall, Laurel Village and Chaparral Village do not have elevators.
- Elevator access in other buildings is limited.
Housing offers will continue to be made until the waitlist is empty, even after the first day of classes. Monitor your email for an offer.
If you have not received an offer or officially signed a contract, do not plan to attend move-in.
You should plan to move-in on Monday, Aug. 17, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Residents moving in on this day will check in at their assigned community's front desk.
